Africa

AFRICA is a very diverse continent with each country having its own unique culture.  One should remember the sheer size of the continent and that Africa is not one country, but 54 different and distinct countries.

When you first step foot on African soil, you just might experience the emotion Karen Blixen described in her magisterial Out of Africa: “Here I am,” she says, ”where I am supposed to be.”  There is surely something magical about the great vistas of the East Africa plains, the deserts of the unending sand dunes, the achingly blue waters and the diverse wildlife of Africa.

When you say Africa the first thing that usually comes to mind is a safari to Tanzania and Kenya where you can spot great herds of elephants, giraffe, buffalo, lions and gregarious chimpanzees; or maybe the great wildebeest and zebra migration that spans the Serengeti Plains and Masai Mara.

Africa is also cosmopolitan cities like Cape Town and the spectacular Cape Peninsula where you can explore the Winelands and wildlife parks of South Africa.  It is, Victoria Falls and amazing wildlife encounters in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana deep in the heart of Africa.

If you are feeling adventurous, embark on a once-in-a-lifetime climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.  Visit the mountain gorillas, chimpanzees or bush babies in the national parks in Rwanda or Uganda.

Ethiopia boasts thousands of years of rich history and culture, as does Egypt, once the site of perhaps the world's grandest civilization along the Nile.  To the west, Morocco is home to labyrinthine souks, snow-clad mountains and the great dunes at the edge of the Sahara.  The landscapes and culture of Israel have been enticing travelers for millennia, and Jordan offers travelers the desert of Wadi Rum and the lost city of Petra.
